The Boston Transportation Department is advising motorists that vehicles will
be prohibited and parking will be restricted on many streets in Downtown Boston on Monday,
April 20, 2009 due to the running of the Boston Marathon. It is strongly recommended that
the public use the MBTA to travel to and from Boston on this day.
Saturday, April 18th
The Club 113 Relay Challenge will take place on Saturday, April 18th.
To accommodate the event, Boylston Street, from Exeter Street to Clarendon Street will be
closed to vehicular traffic from 10 AM to 3 PM.
Sunday, April 19th
The B.A.A. 5K will take place on Sunday, April 19th. Streets along the race
route will be closed for periods of time as the runners make their way toward the finish line.
An estimated 4000 participants will begin the run on Boylston Street at Copley Square at 8AM
and proceed over the following streets:

- Tremont Street
- Park Street
- Beacon Street
- Arlington Street
- Commonwealth Ave.
- Berkeley Street
- Clarendon Street
- Hereford Street
- Finish at the Marathon Finish Line on Boylston Street.
The new Invitational Mile is a three lap course, where male and female elite athletes, as well as
top local high school milers, will compete in the mile in a series of four races, which starts on
Boylston Street, near Exeter Street, and finishes at the Boston Marathon finish line.

Boston's annual Patriot's Day Parade will take place on Monday, April 20th, Participants will
gather on Cambridge Street near the flagpoles on City Hall Plaza and proceed along the following
route beginning at 9:30 AM.
